Balance Sculpture

This piece is a large wooden sculpture with three stones held within its form, creating a composition that feels both grounded and precise. 

Tomas Ritchie works with wood shaped by rare natural occurrences, where trees grow around stone over time. During his surf travels, he collects these pieces and later carves them in his studio, revealing forms that already exist within the material.

His work follows a wabi-sabi sensibility, where imperfection, time, and nature are allowed to remain visible. Each sculpture holds a quiet balance between what is found and what is gently refined.

Designed to rest on the floor, it works naturally in a corner or open space that calls for a stronger presence. It brings a sense of balance and attention to detail, especially in spaces that lean toward a more minimal and nature-driven aesthetic.
